Of all the martial arts masters of the world, none compare to the legendary True Master. Only the most serious of students have been trained by the Master. It is said the Master lives on the far side of the world in the Asian mountainside. He is also depicted as a folk hero by peasants in the area. However, it turned out that the True Master was actually a female farmer named Chu-Hui. The major tenants of her philosophy are patience, humility, and virtue.
The student is directed to seek out the Master by Chu-Hui by hiking to the top of a nearby mountain by night fall. Along the way, the student is put to the test by three guardians who serve the Master. Each test is also later incorporated into the Master's fighting style: The Claws of Iron Bear, Strike of Blind Serpent, and Duel of the Leaping Monkey. Chu-Hui also appears at crucial paths of the mountain to guide the would-be student to the next test. Patience is needed to travel the unforgiving mountain. Humility is needed when the student must abandon their possessions and dress in a traditional gi uniform. Virtue comes with those who do things the right way.
The villain Katarou manipulated Robin into undergoing the challenge of finding the True Master. Robin defied all odds and passed the three tests. He used his new knowledge to defeat Katarou. As the guardians banished Katarou, the True Master began training Robin.
