Wayne Enterprises grew from humble beginnings. Founded by the Wayne family in the 17th century as Wayne Corp., a merchant house, it grew into a multinational conglomerate worth billions. The company branched off into every possible industry such as Technology, Biomedical, Applied Science, Shipping, Medical and Electronics. Dr. Thomas Wayne served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors until his murder.
Bruce Wayne suddenly reappeared after years of travel and took over his company. All the while, through trusts and not-for-profits, Wayne bought up enough shares of Wayne Enterprises to become majority stockholder. Long-time friend of the Wayne family, Lucius Fox is joint CEO. Branches of Wayne Enterprises exist all over the world such as Gotham and Jump City in America, in Europe, and Asia. However, as a crux for advanced technology, the company is a frequent target of thieves and super villains.
When Slade blackmailed Robin into serving him as his apprentice, he forced the hero to attack various technology firms in Jump City. One target was a Wayne Enterprises branch. The Teen Titans confronted Robin atop the building roof only to be crippled by nanoscopic probes inserted into their blood stream by Slade. Robin was forced to attack them to save their lives. Robin escaped capture and the Wayne Enterprises logo was damaged in the fight.
