After his first encounter with the Teen Titans, Brother Blood went undersea and constructed a sonic resonator based on Cyborg's sonic cannon design. He planned to use the resonator to generate a giant tidal wave and destroy Jump City. Aqualad attempted to destroy it himself but failed. He reunited with the Teen Titans and alerted them that they had until sunset before it became fully operational.
While Aqualad and Beast Boy went to shut down the resonator's force field, Cyborg went alone to disable the resonator core and later met Bumblebee. Both had a plan to boost the wavelength in the transmission matrix and trigger a meltdown in the amplification system. They managed to overload the resonator, cancel out the generated tidal wave, and destroy the fortress in the process.
