The Rings of Azar are special rings forged by Temple Azarath, the same order that imprisoned Trigon the Terrible. Named after Azarath's leader, the rings offer limited protection via symbol inscriptions against Trigon and are no absolute method to defeat the demon. Two of the symbols used appear to be of the Raven and the Mark of Scath. Somehow, during his limited partnership with Trigon, Slade acquired one of the rings and protected himself from annihilation when Trigon deemed his usefulness over. Instead of being dissipated, Slade continued to exist in a limbo state, not alive but not dead neither. After the Titans agreed to work with him, Slade gave the ring to Starfire as they prepared to distract Trigon. In the battle, the ring was shattered.
