Joseph Wilson was taken by his mother and hidden in the remote Sector 19, an unforgiving range of jagged mountains. He was born mute and developed a peaceful disposition but his metagene activated and manifested a unique ability to possess others through ocular contact made with his eyes. He became a super hero named Jericho.
On his last mission to recruit other heroes, Beast Boy completed the perilous journey to find Jericho and offer him a Titans Communicator. Soon after, Jericho was attacked by Private Hive and Fang but escaped capture thanks to Herald. The two arrived at a secret Titans outpost and joined Beast Boy to take down the Brotherhood of Evil. However, they needed to learn the Brotherhood's location. The team set up a trap for Cinderblock in Steel City. Jericho possessed Cinderblock and revealed the base was in Paris. While the other heroes pretended to be captured, Jericho carried them inside undetected. However, when Cinderblock suddenly spoke, the Titans attacked and initiated the final showdown.
