Mal Duncan created the Gabriel Horn, an advanced form of technology that can open spatial warps that teleports anyone or anything to another part of Earth or into an interdimensional realm called Dimension X. Duncan simply has to play the Horn like a normal musical instrument to activate a portal. He became the super hero Herald.
Herald saved Raven in Dimension X when she sought to recruit him to the Teen Titans. Herald accepted the offer. He was soon attacked by See More and Warp but survived. Herald teamed up with Jericho and teleported themselves to the Teen Titans secret outpost to regroup with the other survivors. Led by Beast Boy, the led the first team to attack the Brotherhood of Evil in Paris. During the final battle, the Brain tried to kill everyone with a fusion device. Herald was alerted and teleported it into space where it safely exploded.
