Somehow a teenage Cro-Magnum from Southeast Asia was teleported to the present and was overwhelmed by the modern world and its advanced technology. He was named Gnarrk from his limited vocabulary. The only word he speaks is "Gnarrk." Gnarrk journeyed to Sector 13, the Arctic Circle, in search of refuge. He found a lush hidden world that simulated a bygone era in time, one filled with dinosaurs and pterodactyls. There he met and bonded with another outcast, Kole. They soon became best friends. Over time, Gnarrk became used to a healthy diet of cocopolinos, Kole even began to understand him, and Gnarrk became quite observant of things around him.
The two were amazed to meet the Teen Titans and agreed to help them find their enemy, Dr. Light. However, Gnarrk became jealous of the Titans and was afraid that Kole would abandon him and return to the surface. Kole reassured him she had no intention to return but was kidnapped by Light. Gnarrk overcame his fears and led the Titans back to the surface to stop Dr. Light from misusing Kole to power his suit. In a stroke of genius, Gnarrk used Cyborg's wrench to demolish Light's device and save the day. The duo were made honorary Titans and given communicators.
Soon after, Kole and Gnarrk were attacked by Billy Numerous and Gizmo. They evaded capture and were assumed dead. However, they met up with Cyborg and journeyed underground to the Brotherhood of Evil's secret Paris base for the final battle.
