In his latest bid to terrorize the citizens of Jump City, Johnny Rancid constructed a mechanical pet dog loyal to him. He named it Rex. Physically, it appears to be a cross between a bull dog and a hot rod. Starfire was amused by the beast and considered it more playful than evil. Nonetheless, the Teen Titans managed to blow it up but failed to capture Rancid.
He later returned to Jump City with an improved version, named Rexzilla. It now resembled a typical Japanese movie monster. However, it was quickly destroyed when Killer Moth's Larva M319, also known as Silkie, appeared on scene. Rancid was eaten in the process but escaped after Silkie molted.
