When Thunder and Lightning appeared in Jump City, Slade initiated another one of his plans to destroy the area. In disguise an an old one, Slade manipulated the duo into using their electrical powers to attack innocent looking targets with Japanese symbols. In reality, they formed a giant silhoutte of a monster Slade intended to create. When they were all lit, he launched a final symbol that animated it into a giant fire monster. The Japanese hiragana character, chi, common for "Earth" was prominent on its forehead.
The Teen Titans attempted to smolder Fire but failed to stop it from lumbering towards the city. Thunder and Lightning summoned a rain storm to destroy it.
