Origins unknown, Private Hive enrolled at the H.I.V.E. Academy, under the tenure of Brother Blood. Hive is known for his homage to H.I.V.E.'s worker bee motif, a military persona, and a personal shield. Although it is unconfirmed if he graduated or not, Hive went on to full time super villainy and later joined the newly formed H.I.V.E. Five group, led by former classmate Jinx. However, he either resigned or was kicked off the team soon after.
A year later, Hive was recruited to join the expanded Brotherhood of Evil. Months later, he was sent to Sector 19 with Fang to capture the elusive Jericho. Due to Herald's interference, they arrived at the Brotherhood's Paris base without a capture. However, the tide turned in the Teen Titans' favor and the won the war. Private Hive and the rest of the Brotherhood were in turn cryogenically frozen.
