Composed of pure evil, the Guardian of Souls is in the service of Trigon the Terrible. Located deep into a hellish dimension, the Guardian stands at a large doorway with a giant axe, masked, and bears the Mark of Scath on his chest. Beside that door are souls taken by Trigon. No one has ever defeated the Guardian much less challenge him.
In recent times, Slade issued a challenge to reclaim his soul. Even after being thrown into a nearby pit of lava, the Guardian emerged undamaged. Slade managed to blow the door open with explosives. Having failed at his given task, it appears the Guardian vanished and ceased to be.
