Origins unknown, Cinderblock is a walking demolition team. Lacking any intelligence, Cinderblock is a destructive force that can be easily manipulated by others. In recent times, he became an enforcer of Slade. As part of a three phase plan to test the Teen Titans, Slade first sent Cinderblock to Jump City's local prison complex, cell block nine in particular, to extract the super villain known as Plasmus. Upon bringing a slumbering Plasmus to Slade, Cinderblock was ordered to awaken him. Later as the Titans fought him, Slade dispatched Cinderblock downtown only to be defeated by Cyborg, single-handedly.
Cinderblock was put into service once more as part of a secret plot to infect the Teen Titans with nanoscopic probes. While chasing what they thought was a Chronoton Detonator, Cinderblock appeared in the sewers to protect the Detonator's transport. Robin defeated him and took a beacon of Slade's construction off him. Cinderblock was then taken into police custody and housed in cell block nine. Months later, Terra broke in and freed Cinderblock, Overload, and Plasmus. She then attached neural remotes to each of them and placed them under Slade's mental influence. The four villains would then strike at different points in Jump City and separate the Titans. Robin and Starfire fought Cinderblock. Slade then merged Cinderblock, Overload, and Plasmus into one being, Ternion. The Titans defeated it and somehow, they were separated back into three beings. He soon escaped again.
Cinderblock was recruited by the Brotherhood of Evil years later. When the Brotherhood initiated their final phase to capture and neutralize every super hero in the world, Cinderblock was dispatched to Sector 27 to help capture Mas y Menos. However, only half of the duo was caught. While following up on a lead on Mas in Steel City, Cinderblock's mind and body was taken over by Jericho. He and Beast Boy's team returned to the Brotherhood's Paris base. However, Jericho mistakingly spoke to Andre Le Blanc, Adonis, Mammonth, and Private Hive while on the way to watch Robin being frozen. Soon after, Cinderblock was defeated and frozen in the final battle between the Brotherhood of Evil and the Teen Titans.
