An ordinary artist aspired to giving life to his creations. He utilized Japanese dark magic to make his dream come true. However, the spell came at a price. The evil properties of the magic corrupted his body and inhabited his blood and veins. He became Brushogun, Tokyo's first super villain. Brushogun's villainy and power inspired more criminals to challenge the established order.

Commander Daizo secretly captured Brushogun and disappeared from the criminal element of Japan. Over the years, he was reduced to a myth, an urban legend. Daizo imprisoned Brushogun in the Wakamono Shukan printing factory and tied him to a press. Now under the police commander's control, Brushogun was a mere slave. Daizo could now create new criminals and easily defeat them with his Tokyo Troopers and be the hero he always wanted to be. Brushogun learned of the Teen Titans and sent a copy of Saico Tek to Jump City to get help.

After the Titans discovered the truth, Daizo merged with Brushogun and became a giant ink beast. The Titans focused on freeing Brushogun to take away Daizo's powers. Once free, Brushogun's spell was broken and he faded away in peace. The Titans were hailed as heroes while Daizo was charged and arrested.
