The Wizard is a champion of man and has a mastery of magic. In present times, he chose Billy Batson, a young orphan pure of heart, to receive his powers. Batson found a magic subway and was transported to the Rock of Eternity where the Wizard resided. The Wizard instructed him to say his true name "Shazam." Batson obeyed and was hit by a lightning bolt, aged into an adult with multiple superpowers. He took the name Shazam and became a superhero. The Teen Titans interrupted a confrontation between Shazam and Mister Mind. Robin pressed him about his origin story after the others mocked Mind. Shazam revealed a mighty wizard gave him his superpowers. The Titans were stoked. Raven wanted to meet him. Starfire asked how they could find him. Shazam pointed them to the magic subway. Shazam wanted to focus on stopping Mind but they pointed out he was long gone. Shazam sighed and decided to consult with the Wizard. Starfire asked if they could join him and meet the Wizard. They all pleaded.

Shazam mused they could be of assistance then asked them to treat it like a serious threat. They promised. They took the subway to the Rock of Eternity after pranking him one more time. The Wizard welcomed Billy. The Titans mistook him for a stage magician but Shazam insisted his magic was the real deal. Robin questioned why he gave powers to a little kid and found it irresponsible. Wizard clarified he did so because Billy was an orhan pure of heart then winked. The Titans understood the sub-text. The Wizard continued and explained when he gave his powers, he would perish soon after and be crushed by the Rock of Eternity. Raven pointed out he was sitting right under it. Beast Boy advised him to move over six inches. Wizard insisted. Starfire yelled at him to scootch. He refused. The Titans pushed him over. He was not pleased. Beast Boy asked about the statues in the lair. Wizard explained they were the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man, spirits based on the worst human vices. They crawled all over and imitated the statues.

Wizard chided them and asked Billy why he brought the Titans. Billy thought they could help find Mister Mind before he could take over the world. Robin wondered where he went. Mind declared his presence and stole the Seven. he Titans vowed to get them back but ignored Batson's warning one had to be pure of heart to fight them. He didn't know what to do. The Wizard advised him to deal with it because he had bigger problems. After they left in the subway train, he moved the chair back under the rock. He observed the battle and was proud of Batson for overcoming the Seven, defeating Mind, and helping the Titans realize the error of not taking things seriously. The rock finally fell and crushed him. The Wizard took part in the Codsville Thanksgiving Parade. He and Shazam rode on a float inspired by the Rock of Eternity.
