The people of Tamaran are a proud warrior race. Their culture is full of ritual and customs that seem strange to those from Earth but it appears to be based on survival of the fittest. The planet's atmosphere is composed of Tamaranian fire air, fatal to most lungs. To Tamaranians, it is a way to make sure the weak do not survive. A handshake is considered the most violent declaration of war. A special group of warriors called the Guardians of Honor escort the dishonored to battle Gridnock in order to save face through a show of bravery. Tamaranian royalty are usually preoccupied with entertaining kings, queens, and warlords or brokering a peace at their palace. The Tamaranians cheered in adoration for Starfire after she and the other Teen Titans beat the unbeatable Gridnock and emerged from his remains. Aside from Blackfire and Starfire, three other Tamaranian princesses were up for Outstanding Alien Princess From Planet Tamaran. Blackfire won. Starfire visited Tamaran for a celebration that involved dancing.
