Ryo went to a lake to train for the Jump City Fishing Tournament but ran into the Teen Titans. He chose a multi-jointed swim bait and used a Corkscrew cast to catch a fish. All but Robin was impressed. He thought Ryo's flashy carnival tricks ruined fishing. Ryo scoffed and declared he was winning the fishing tournament again. Robin didn't believe he would win with his sports anime techniques and stated fishing was a delicate art form. Ryo dared him to enter the tournament. Robin accepted the challenge and they had an intense split-screen face-off. Ryo reeled in a fish then zipped off. During the tournament, Ryo stayed at the number one spot throughout and ended with 49 pounds worth of fish caught. Robin played catch up but ended in second place with 42 pounds worth. With all other anglers eliminated, they both proceeded to the main event. Whoever could catch the final wish was the winner. The gigantic Sabertooth Tigerfish was transported in a shipping container by helicopter.
Ryo used his signature move Dragon's Tail to hit the fish in the face with a lure, it responded by chomping on the lure. Unable to use traditional fishing techniques, Robin went sports anime and unleashed his Heatseeking Missilecast. It descended from space and targeted the fish's head. It roared from the hit and the lure dropped in its mouth. Ryo was astonished and thought it was impossible. Ryo and Robin were at a dead heat. Ryo used his chibi style to entice the fish to come to him. Robin tried his but his chibi form was too gross and spooked the fish. Robin invoked an anime flashback of when Batman taught him how to catch a fish. Robin was surrounded by a golden aura and the burst of strength allowed him to reel in the fish. Ryo countered with an anime flashback of how his dad was a fisherman who taught him everything he knew who was eaten by a fish and on that day he swore revenge. Ryo similarly powered up and reeled the fish in towards him. Robin countered Batman was then eaten by a shark while fishing with the sheriff and a marine biologist. He reeled the fish to him.
Ryo countered the fish that ate his father was the Sabertooth Tigerfish and reeled him in. Robin went too hard into his flashback and said the shark came back in 3D and ate him and he was a ghost. As a ghost, Robin could no longer hold his fishing pole and lost to Ryo. The fish was finally pulled in and Ryo declared the winner. Ryo admitted he thought Robin's flashback skills were impressive and was honored to be his anime rival. Robin refused to learn from his loss and possessed the fish. The fish's face took on his features. Robin declared he won and the fish was his. He swam around in victory. Ryo was reduced to tears and cursed Robin's name.
