Miner was a person who lived on a planet in the Night Begins to Shine dimension. Miner was branded an outlaw by Ultralak for the creation of radical instruments used by B.E.R. and he was forced into exile where he could barely get by. Miner soon began to believe music was a curse and nothing but trouble. At some point, Grave Rock's sheriff put a value on music. People started looking for songs and selling them for a living. Miner was one of them even though he knew Ultralak was destroying the songs the Sheriff sent to him. One day, he searched a mine for music. He found some worthless crystals and tossed it aside. Just by chance, it breached a spot and revealed one of the legendary Lost Stems. It was the one of the drum. The Miner recognized it and sold it to the Sheriff. To his surprise, the Sheriff paid him a pittance, barely enough to last him through the week. The Sheriff told him times were tough. Miner grumbled they were except for him. The Sheriff invited him take it up with his boss, Ultralak.

The Teen Titans crossed paths with them and asked for help finding a song. The Sheriff advised them to leave and never come back. The Miner revealed his face to them and warned he didn't take kindly to strangers. They asked Miner about songs. He directed them to the mine, it was full of songs buried by musicians who didn't want Ultralak to steal them. The Teen Titans tried to steal the stem but got captured, except Cyborg. Cyborg went back to Miner and asked him for help. Miner didn't see why he should. Cyborg believed he still cared about music and they could defeat Ultralak together then clear his name. Miner reckoned it wasn't too late to make things right and brandished his electric guitar. They went to Grave Rock's jail. Miner dialed his guitar to 12 and played it. The sound wave was powerful enough to blow a hole in the jail's exterior, freeing the Titans. They were too late and chased after the Sheriff's train.

After the Sheriff activated RPG launchers, Miner transformed his steed into a mech suit and fired lasers at the projectiles. Some clipped his weapons so he charged and tackled the launchers off the train. As his suit came apart, he clung to the edge. He fell but realized Cyborg caught him. Errant projectiles took out a bridge up ahead. Miner jumped into the train and confronted Sheriff. Miner was faster with his guitar and knocked Sheriff to the ground. Sheriff tried to lock himself, the Titans and Miner in the room but Miner was quick enough to slide out. He re-teamed with Cyborg and drove up the remains of the supports like a ramp and landed on the other side. He turned his guitar into a double neck and strummed. The power of the music formed a strong enough track for the train to safely pass over and avoid a grisly fall. Miner thanked the Titans then revealed he decided to take over as the new sheriff of Grave Rock.
