In accordance to ancient bucket law, when a person finishes their sacred bucket list, their life is complete. The Bucket Lord must appear before them so they may kick it. If the person does so, they will pass on. After 60 years, Starfire finally finished her bucket list. At first nothing happened then the room glowed purple. A bucket manifested out of thin air then sprouted arms, legs, and a face. He revealed he was the Bucket Lord then there was a thunderclap. The elderly Beast Boy was sure it was the bucket who stole his girlfriend during the war. Bucket Lord bent over and implored Starfire to kick his butt. She refused. The Bucket Lord clarified she must because she completed her list. Starfire admitted she was only looking for life meaning. Bucket Lord mused that would be found through friends, not some stupid list. It added if she refused to kick him, he would kick her. The others came to her defense and declared they didn't just waste their entire lives making sure Starfire didn't waste hers.
They charged the Bucket Lord but they all fell due to their old age. Bucket Lord prepared to kick them but Starfire pleaded with him, referring to him as "bucket friend." Bucket Lord was taken aback at being called "friend" and admitted it never had any because executing bucket law was its sole purpose. Starfire assured it they would be its friends. Bucket Lord was touched and was hugged by Starfire. Bucket Lord thanked them for showing there was more to life than bucket kicking. Starfire agreed friends were the true meaning of life. Beast Boy couldn't refrain from his grudge and kicked Bucket Lord, dying soon after.
