The Joker posed as "Prince J. Reko," a foreign prince, and scammed Starfire out of her life savings with an email offering his vast fortune in exchange for a nominal fee. Starfire fell for it and sent her money, planning to fulfill her dream of opening a store called Starfire's Scoops that sold scoopers then living happily ever after with Reko. The other Titans broke the bad news to her. They went to Gotham City to rectify things. Starfire ended up scamming the Joker for everything he had. Starfire opened her Starfire's Scoops store right outside the perimeter of Axis Chemicals formerly owned by Joker and he was reduced to the role of janitor. As a precaution, a ball and chain was affixed to one of his legs.
