The Teen Titans took a trip to Boston to have clam chowder. They went to the Union Oyster House. Robin tried to tell them about the tavern but the Titans only wanted to eat chowder. Robin made the mistake of ordering the Manhattan. The others were aghast. A cook pointed them out and got them thrown out. They were banned for life. Robin wanted to take them on the Freedom Trail and teach them about the history of Boston but they only wanted to eat more chowder. Robin pointed out there were chowder stands on the trail. They agreed to it and ran him over. He tried to tell them about the potato tree but the others ignored him and ate chowder. He tried to tell them about how hundreds of barrels of British chowder were dumped into the Bay. They ignored him and ate chowder at a stand. A bowl tossed up by Cyborg spilled on the Freedom Trail and accidentally opened a secret passage to the Boston Catacombs.

Raven translated the ancient Bostonian and learned the legendary First Bowl of Chowda lay at the end of the catacombs. Whomever had it in their possession would have unlimited clam chowder but the catacombs were filled with death traps. Robin used an acrobat's summoning ritual to summon Deadman to give them the winning edge. There was some confusion about his powers and Deadman admitted he considered a name change to Possession Man. He recalled having Crystallized Lazarus Resin but warned the Titans that with each respawn, their minds would get messed up. The Titans did a group huddle and decided to head into the catacombs. He thought they were messed up enough and tried to back out but Robin invoked the acrobat's code: a true acrobat was always there to catch a comrade. Deadman thought that was a dirty move but agreed to help.
