The Utility Belt is the primary equipment of Batman and Robin, holding all their tools and weapons. Robin's best friend is his collapsible bo staff, whom he treats as a person. Pressing the center of the built activates a gatling gun that rapidly fires birdarangs. Batman's belt has all sorts of buttons that do anything from aiding him in his famous disappearing act, firing a spring loaded boxing glove, multiple Batarangs, or tear gas, a fan, a grapnel line, summoning the Batmobile, Batcycle, or Batplane remotely, activates the massage or lie down option on the Batmobile's driver's seat, summon a drone or the robot Tyrannosaurus Rex, starts up the Batmobile, activates the ejector seat, and expel a stream of water from a port hole in the Batcave. Intrigued by Dr. Light's claim of having an evil monologue, Robin pressed the center of his belt and a beach chair and tub of popcorn expanded from capsules that popped out.

Cinderblock went on another rampage. The Titans arrived but Cinderblock grabbed a light pole, bent it, and pinned Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire to a building. Robin used his utility belt to fire four Birdarangs past Cinderblock then used remote guidance on the buckle to send them onto the villain and blow up. Cinderblock tried to punch Robin but he used his belt to fire a grapnel line and head to safety. In mid-air, the belt fired multiple missiles. Cinderblock had no fight left in him but Robin somehow produced a crane and wrecking ball from the back of the belt and demolished him. The pieces of Cinderblock landed and reformed into a statue of Robin. Robin then used a gadget from the belt to pry the others free. They were impressed. Robin boasted it kept him prepared on and off the field then offered a sandwich for lunch. Beast Boy ate it and asked what else was inside. Robin did an inventory: a magnifying glass, toothbrush, hairbrush, pair of socks, hammer, deodorant, cotton swabs, his driver's license, debit card, extension card, water bottle, and the usual assortment of tools and sharp throwy things. He pricked his finger and the belt applied a Band-aid. It even told the weather belt and played sweet '80s music. They believed the belt was the true hero and should be the leader, to Robin's shock.

Robin became depressed. Utility Belt tried to comfort him with tissue, nuts, and music to no avail. Robin apologized and shared his fears. It told him he would always be the Boy Wonder. Robin wanted time apart to prove it to himself. Belt understood. Robin left him at The Thrifty Hero second hand store. He was befriended by other second hand equipment: Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth, Hawkman's Mace, The Joker's Flower, Green Lantern's Power Ring, and Two-Face's coin. They thought Belt was in denial about being abandoned. Lasso revealed it was abandoned by Wonder Woman when the fibers began to fray, Ring was traded in when it stopped retaining its charge, Hawkman got rid of the Mace when his handle broke off, the coin was abandoned when Two-Face's therapist Harley Quinn told him it was unhealthy to make life decisions by flipping a coin, and the Flower started leaking acid on Joker's suit. They were shocked to learn Belt was in perfect working condition. Lasso asked Belt to join them in their mantra, "Just because we're used, doesn't make us useless. We are super tools, and they are super fools."

Robin and the other Titans arrived in search of the belt after they were easily defeated by Cinderblock. Lasso grabbed Robin and squeezed. Robin promised he wouldn't abandon him again but Belt didn't believe him. Robin pointed out the Lasso was making him tell the truth but it pointed out it couldn't do that anymore. The Mace broke off and smashed Cyborg's foot. The Flower weakened a shelf with acid and a bunch of stuff fell on Raven. Coin distracted Beast Boy while Ring dropped a construct of a jet ski on him. Lasso smacked Starfire into the clearance bin. Robin and Belt reaffirmed their love for each other. Lasso slammed Robin around intent on making him pay for his hubris despite Belt's plea to stop. Belt returned to Robin and got him free then he used a stapler to immobilize Lasso to the counter. They lured Mace over with bird seed then trapped it in a bird cage. They produced a hose and blasted the Flower. They trapped Coin in a cat-themed piggy bank. Ring smashed Beast Boy with a TV construct but they tossed it down a kitchen sink. Belt could not leave without them and offered the second hand equipment and new home in its pouches. They accepted. Robin was elated to have more cool stuff but Mace fell on his head amid his celebration.
