Birdarang was created when Robin and Cyborg were caught up in merging moves. A simple Birdarang and mother board created Birdarang. It gained the ability to speak and levitate at will. Birdarang became best friends with another creation, Beatbox. While searching for books, Beast Boy found Birdarang inside Silkie. In the battle royale against Pain Bot, Birdarang was simply flicked away.
Birdarang and Beatbox were surprised by everyone on their birthday. The Teen Titans left during the party to investigate a crime alert. Birdarang followed Cyborg's orders and kept the party going... for eight months. Super Robin finally recognized the distress beacon and the team suited up for a suicide mission to save the Titans. They were captured by Monsieur Mallah but Birdarang rallied them. They escaped confinement and worked together to defeat Mallah. The team faced the Brain but during the battle, Beatbox took a fatal blast for Birdarang. He shifted to a battle form, destroyed the vials containing the Titans' stolen powers then removed Brain from his Project B.R.I.A.N. suit. Birdarang and the others were elated when Cyborg restored Beatbox back to life with new batteries. Birdarang attended Starfire's wedding ceremony where she almost married a pot of vegetarian chili until Raven stopped it by being nean.
Birdarang and Beatbox were dancing with four of the Titans in the Tower until Robin suddenly appeared, dressed as Napoleon, and trashed Beatbox with his bo staff. After Robin kicked Beatbox through the glass window into the ocean below, Birdarang simply stated "Oh, dang!" then floated away. Birdarang served as the announcer for the Titans when they debuted their wrestling personas. Birdarang and Beatbox danced with the Titans when they tried the dance move called the Overbite. Beatbox supplied the music. Raven later took the duo with her to the Dance Dimension as her back up dancers to save the other Titans from the Dance Demon's servitude. Birdarang transformed into his humanoid form and dance battled. After Raven lost, Birdarang tried to console her and reminded her there was a dance that didn't require rhythm, the Overbite. Together, they got all the demons to join them and the other Titans were freed.
After losing his voice for violating the rules of jinx, Robin tried to communicate by dance. Cyborg explained what happened to Birdarang by the pool. Birdarang wished he could help but stated it wasn't like he could live in Robin's belly and talk for him. Robin ate him and he spoke for Robin. They settled on confronting Jinx first to see if she had Robin's voice. It turned out she kept a voice collection of everyone who violated the game. Jinx refused to give up the voice and used her ability to cause a cave-in on Robin. The force knocked Birdarang out of Robin. He bid everyone goodbye and left. While dancing to some gentler music, Beatbox and Birdarang were teased by two children. They switched Beatbox's tape to rap and sang about how "hard" they were. Despite the children believing them, they continued with singing. Birdarang commented that was redonculously hard.
Birdarang hosted the Justice League's annual Next Top Talent Idol Star episodes, the first annual Teen Titan Awards, and a costume contest for three years. After it was revealed the Titans stole H.I.V.E.'s costumes and wrecked their Halloween costume, Birdarang reminded them two wrongs don't make a right. On the last day of Super Hero Summer Camp, Birdarang led the ceremony to award participation models. All but the Teen Titans got one. When asked, Birdarang told them they weren't getting any because they didn't participate in learning camp skills like the others. After the Titans saved everyone from Trigon, they stopped Birdarang from leaving and demanded the models. Surprised they didn't learn their lesson, Birdarang dived into a trash can and threw them their medals. Birdarang hosted The Superhero Award Show and was the Wizard of Awards in Robin's dream.
After Robin exposed his giant head farce, the Wizard explained they didn't need awards because they had the power of the awards all along. Crow could say his crazy political opinions any time he wanted and was handed a mic by Birdarang. It then told the tinman he would never live up to his parents' expectations and shouldn't bother trying anymore. Tinman realized he was right and felt better. He told the cat all the cats were already happy. Lastly, he told Robin he didn't need to feel superior from getting an award because he already had a superiority complex. Robin couldn't wait to go home and rub it in everyone's faces. Birdarang instructed him to pat himself on the back three times and say, "There's no one better than me." Robin regained consciousness on the stage and declared awards were meaningless. Birdarang continued with the last award of the night, Best Teenage Superhero Team.
Birdarang hosted the Justice League Edition of Justice League's Next Top Talent Idol Star. At the start, Birdarang got to the point and wondered how the Teen Titans will fail and continue to be the laughing stock of the DC universe. Birdarang dropped a reveal that they would be going against the Justice League then explained ratings dropped and the show was getting stale and advised everyone to quit. The Titans refused and ended up winning. Birdarang admonished Krypto for not letting go of the envelope and revealed the judges' decision. Birdarang and Beatbox walked down the sidewalk with ice cream cones but they were turned to baby food by the Baby-lonians just as they took a lick and were turned into infants by the giant laser rattle. Beatbox and Birdarang danced on a fire escape around the time Robin's leg was injured entering his Titan Robot cockpit. Birdarang and Beatbox attended Beast Boy's roof party on his birthday. Birdarang hosted the Justice League's Next Top Talent Idol Star: Dance Crew Edition. The winner would have their photo on Batman's chest for one year. Birdarang had mad respect for Batman and did a fist bump with him.
Naturally, when Robin was cut from his own crew twice, Birdarang intruded on him at his lowest. Robin emerged from a restroom stall and declared he was a superhero and superheroes never gave up. Birdarang gave him bigs ups for the strong talk and reminded him he could still go to the finals if he could find a new dance crew. At the end of the competition, Birdarang retrieved the envelope from in a fish Aquaman tossed up to the stage and the Teen Titans were announced as the winner. Birdarang readied a camera phone and took a photo of them. Robin wasn't ready and was smushed in the middle. He demanded a do-over but it was already sent to Batman's chest emblem and Birdarang tossed the phone that soon exploeded. Birdarang and Beatbox danced in Robin's bedroom and claimed to be too busy to turn off the trash compactor before it crushed the Titans hiding from Beast Boy. Birdarang was a courtside commentator at the 2022 NBA Slam Dunk Special. While the Titans worked on a pilot, they hired Birdarang as a full-time assistant to order them lunch. After they furnished themselves with an office in the tower, Birdarang drew Raven a burger then calculated they had 12 cents left from their funding. Robin attempted to defeat Batman at cornhole with Birdarang in his robot form but Batman produced a batarang armed with turrets that blew it up.
