Kid Flash is a super speedster. In a version of the Teen Titans' origin story, Robin realized he couldn't fight crime in Jump City on his own and wanted to assemble a superteam of superteens like himself and bring peace to the city while bringing out the best in each other. He came up with the name, Teen Titans. He found Kid Flash in Banes Gym playing table tennis against himself but he didn't seem that excited about Robin's try outs. He ran to Canada and stopped a bank robbery then returned. Robin promised the try outs would be a formality for him. He ran into a regular boy named Victor but told him the try outs were just for superheroes. He gave flyers to Aqualad, Speedy, Bumblebee, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy. After Beast Boy, Robin finally snapped and allowed Victor to try out, too. The next day, Robin presented challenges that required speed and skill and combat and teamwork. The winners would be full-fledged members of the Teen Titans and live in the Titans Tower.
In the speed challenge, Kid Flash easily passed. Robin eventually snapped and hit Victor, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy with a table then kicked them into the elevator. Kid Flash proposed a vote and Robin allowed it. Kid Flash pointed out his temper and suggested a vote to oust Robin. It passed and he was ejected. Kid Flash took over as the leader. Starfire, Raven, Victor, and Beast Boy realized if Robin was always worked up by them, he wouldn't be such a pushover. Robin wasn't interested because they brought out the worst in him. Cyborg believed the five of them could take the tower back. Raven teleported everyone into the living room of the tower. They insisted to Kid Flash that Robin wasn't going to be a pushover anymore. Kid Flash perceived a challenge was coming. They specified the winners kept the tower and the losers would leave the city for good. Kid Flash accepted but was more concerned the toilet being clogged with Wet Wipes. They wound Robin up by repeatedly pointing out how Kid Flash stole everything and how Speedy clogged the toilet with Wet Wipes.
Robin snapped and declared there was no such thing as flushable Wet Wipes. And they were the real Teen Titans. Kid Flash presented challenges based on the ones from try outs, combat and problem solving, and if needed, a tie breaker based on the speed challenge. Victor was badly beaten by the combat dummy. Doctors replaced his broken body with robot parts and Cyborg was born. Two hours later, they returned and Cyborg quickly vaporized the dummy. Kid Flash presented a puzzle but Beast Boy caught it and tried. It blew up in his face. Robin and Kid Flash lined up for a race around the world. As soon as Kid Flash left, Robin signaled the others to run into the tower. They boarded up the elevator doors but Kid Flash was already inside. Robin introduced his new self and broke Kid Flash's left leg with his staff. The others threw him through the glass window. Kid Flash, Aqualad, Bumblebee, and Speedy relocated to the East Coast.
Some time later, Kid Flash wanted to join the Teen Titans again. He arrived at a battle outside the Jump City Bank and defeated H.I.V.E. by himself, earning the admiration of Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire. Kid Flash indulged their requests and brought Beast Boy a burrito from Mexico, built a weird toaster for Raven, found Starfire's lost bracelet, and gave Cyborg a penguin. Robin refused to accept Kid Flash as a member because he was a one trick pony. Kid Flash insisted it was a cool superpower and stuffed a hat from Russia on Robin's head. Angry Kid Flash called him a no trick pony, Robin challenged Kid Flash to a race. For one week, Robin only worked on his belief he could be fast instead of any actual training. Kid Flash easily won the race and all rematches Robin requested. Kid Flash was welcomed as the Titans' new leader. Robin watched as he led the Titans to victory against Cinderblock.
Eventually, Robin regained his confidence and challenged Kid Flash to a beatbox battle. Kid Flash won that, too. Combining belief in himself and super speed, Kid Flash taught himself to beatbox, learned ninja moves and gained a tight butt. Kid Flash declared he was better at everything than Robin. Robin refused to give in and challenged Kid Flash to another race. Just as the race started, Robin bashed Kid Flash's left knee with his staff and ran past the finish line. Kid Flash called out for ice in vain as the Titans carried the victorious Robin away. While the Teen Titans tried to stop the Brain's latest plan for world domination the same time they tried to remember how to be superheroes, Kid Flash upstaged them and took out Monsieur Mallah with a flying kick. Kid Flash decided to compete in a Crime Season and win, just to see Robin lose. He sped off and stopped 52 crimes but Robin told him he needed to be on a team to be able to compete.
Kid Flash went to go form his own team but none of the solo superheroes he found weren't interested. He realized he could recruit from heroes already on a team - namely, the Teen Titans. He gave Cyborg a pizza, he fixed Raven's back, and put Starfire on a recliner. He then mentioned he would do all the work. Robin wouldn't have any of it and made a passionate speech to the Titans to get them to stay on. They left the Tower to face Killer Moth on a train but he was able to throw his pet into toxic waste and turned it into a giant mutant. Kid Flash arrived on the scene in a party bus. Raven, Starfire, and Cyborg defected to Kid's team. The first crime he stopped while his team relaxed was preventing Cinderblock from stealing a safe from the Jump City Bank. He continued to rack up wins and beat Vegetor, Mad Mod, Mammoth, Benjamin Franklin, Jinx, Ravager, Magic God, and the Joker. Soon he stopped 38 crimes. He went to the Diamonds Aplenty theft and noticed Robin's new Teen Titans.
Kid Flash knocked out Dr. Light and claimed his 51st win. The Titans went after Killer Moth to get their 52nd win and win Crime Season but Kid Flash arrived again. He admitted he wanted to see the look on Robin's face when he lost his precious winning streak. Robin feigned defeat and requested to ask Kid Flash one thing, how his other knee was. Robin broke Kid Flash's right knee with his staff. Kid Flash fell to the ground in agonizing pain and the Titans stopped Killer Moth. Kid Flash took part in the Next Top Talent Idol Star for a shot at being the next member of the Justice League. He tried a guitar solo but was rejected. Kid Flash partnered with Artemis and Amethyst for the Super Hero Summer Camp canoe race. After being capsized by the Teen Titans' pirate ship, they were later blown up by cannon fire. Kid Flash tried playing Starfire's shell game but lost twice and she rubbed it in his face. Under Trigon's control, Kid Flash was slashed up by Raven's sword aboard the pirate ship.
Kid Flash participated in the Justice League's Next Top Idol Star: Justice League Edition with Titans East. They quit after it was revealed the Justice League was also competing. Kid Flash attended the Wayne Manor Regency Ball. While Kid Flash was running through Jump City, Robin bashed his left leg with his staff then took a bag of money from him for taxes. Kid Flash went to Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary party. Kid Flash was a spectator at the Codsville Thanksgiving Parade. Kid Flash was pushed into a vat of chemicals by Robin in hopes of creating a vengeful mutated villain. Instead, a skeleton rose up from the chemicals. Robin ran away. Kid Flash went to the DC Halloween Festival.
