After about three years or 156 adventures, an octopus started resting on the rock outside the Titans Tower. Raven and the others wondered what happened to the pelican, the crab, and the seagull that used to rest on the rock before. She challenged Robin to solve the mystery after he boasted he was a master detective. He believed the animals were planted there to spy on them. They took the octopus to an interrogation room but Raven pointed out it couldn't speak English. Robin presented a drawing of the pelican, seagull, and crab and asked what it did with them. The octopus shrugged. Starfire caved in and couldn't resist how adorable it was and started tickling it. She named it Mr. The Squishy Face. Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven joined in. Robin yelled at them. The octopus jumped on a wall and tried to camouflage. Robin suspected it was guilty and pressed on. It squirted ink all over his face.
Robin grabbed it and pointed out its three random markings. He pressed them together and formed the symbol of the Illuminati, a secret society bent on world domination. It turned out the three missing animals were the leader of the Illuminati and operated a giant robot named Lumino that served as a figurehead leader. After the Titans failed to get a confession from Lumino and left, the three animals gloated about keeping their greatest secret a secret. The octopus inexplicably was in the chamber, too, and ate them.
