A freshwater gang of carps took on a lake as their territory. They are led by Berny and the gang consists of his sister Sofia, Turbo, Hooks, Lenny Lures, and Baby Koi. They are prejudiced against those without gills whom they call "no-gills" and against saltwater fish whom they call "salt-breathers." One summer, Sofia smelled an entrancing scent and surfaced to search for the source. She found Robin sulking on the pier and declared his breath was the fishiest of all the fish she met before. Robin thought she was making fun of him like the other Teen Titans. She didn't understand why they would make fun of such a fine fish with such a delightful odor. Robin insisted he was not a fish but she thought he was being funny and called him handsome. Robin was about to repeat himself then realized she called him handsome. She found his breath so intoxicating and thought she loved him. Robin admitted no one ever proclaimed their love for him before and found her very attractive. He mused he could love her. She was elated and they introduced themselves then broke out into song and dance about his fish breath.
They were about to kiss but Berny came between them. Robin accidentally kissed him on the cheek. Berny declared he wasn't getting away with messing with his sister. He produced his clam and was ready to stab Robin but Sofia declared he was fish like them and she loved him. Robin reciprocated. Berny was still skeptical. Robin promised he had nothing to fear. Berny smelt his breath and believed he was a real solid fish. He gave Robin his blessing but warned him not to hurt his sister or he would hurt him. Robin understood but became hesitant when Berny added he would have to join his gang then introduced the other carps. Sofia told Robin he had to join the gang in order for them to be together. He agreed to the terms. The gang proceeded to terrorize everyone at the lake. Baby Koi left a snapping turtle near a boy's foot and it bit in short order. Berny stabbed a man's inner tube and he went flying off. Robin took a dad's fishing line and hooked his back pocket. The dad reeled in his own pants and ran away in embarrassment.
King Shark swam past them singing. Berny recognized he was a salt-breather and needed to be taught a lesson. He confronted King and told him salt-breathers weren't welcome at their lake and warned him to go home, pronto. King stood up and asked Robin what was wrong with his fish friends. Berny suspected Robin was in a rival gang but Robin lied and said he never seen King or the other Titans before in his life. King tried to be diplomatic and suggest a way to settle their differences. Berny gave him an ultimatum: leave now or they rumble. King pointed out they could not leave since they paid for parking already. Berny told them to meet at the pier in one hour for a rumble. Robin took Sofia's hand the left with the carps. Robin was obstinate about stopping the rumble, because he loved his new family. Sofia told him Berny would never allow it but Robin still wanted to try. Sofia wanted it to all over so they could get married. The two groups met at the pier and blamed each other. Cyborg pointed out they were at a publicly owned space.
Berny had enough and they charged each other. Robin got between them and admitted the Titans were his family, too. He gave a moving speech about how he found true love when Sofia accepted him and his breath. He asked why they couldn't all accept one another for who they were. He emphasized love was the answer, not fighting. The carps were moved to tears. Koi thought his speech was beautiful. Berny told Robin he had a lotta heart and declared he could love, too, then declared the Titans were his family, too. King Shark suddenly are the carps in one bite. Robin was distraught. King apologized and made an excuse he got loopy when his blood sugar got too low. Robin wished he could see Sofia one more time. King realized she was stuck in his uvula. Robin and Sofia sang to each other one last time then King swallowed her. Robin told her goodbye then King belched in his face. He was grossed out. King and the other Titans laughed at his expense.
