Bane is an assassin for hire who uses a compound called Venom to become super strong. He often is bested by Batman. Bane was one of the new villains drawn into Control Freak's conflict with the Teen Titans during a staged Island Adventure stunt. Bane plotted to blow up Jump City's sports stadium during the fourth quarter of a football game between Gotham City and Jump City. He walked through the seating with a crate of TNT and noticed Alfred Pennyworth in the Batmobile looking around from the field. Bane tapped Commissioner Gordon's shoulder and informed them of the butler. He went on his way as Batman and Gordon fled the stadium. One day, Penguin and Bane lifted weights in the Arkham Asylum outdoor recreation yard. Raven teleported herself, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Starfire through a portal underneath the weight bench used by them.

They believed they were helping Robin earn his last Bat Scouts badge by having to catch criminals and satisfying their interest in fighting Batman's enemies by releasing several from Arkham. Bane and Penguin shoved a car around. Raven faked Bane out and made him look then propelled him into a light pole with a gush of water from a fire hydrant. Raven teleported them all back to Arkham. During an Easter egg hunt to solve Robin's unfinished one, many villains were carelessly released so the Titans could search the Arkham Asylum cell for clues. Bane was one let out. Bane was spared from the Eebows' rewriting of reality. While punishing the Teen Titans for their crimes against Eebows, Robin was bent over Bane's knee.

Bane was arrested and sent to Jump City Prison at some point. When the Titans infiltrated the prison one Christmas Eve to break Santa Claus out, they needed to demonstrate dominance so the supervillains wouldn't attack them. Robin chose Bane but he didn't want to fight. He gave Robin a welcome basket. Robin was touched by his thoughtfulness then yelled at him to get lost. Bane cried and ran away. In the mess hall, Robin and Santa provided a distraction to allow Beast Boy the chance to steal food and drinks from the kitchen. Bane repeated he didn't want any trouble. Robin slapped Bane's food tray in his face and pretended to be attacked by Bane while Santa alerted the two guards by the kitchen door. Bane revealed he only had one more day left on his sentence. The guards zapped him and announced he now had 100 years for fighting in the mess hall. As they dragged him away, Bane vowed he would break Robin. Santa escaped but double crossed the Titans and abandoned them at the prison. They were sent to D-Block. Bane was waiting in Robin's cell and beat him up.

To show them the dangers of the Tank Life, King Shark told them a story about when he taught it to Bane. Back when he was a little scrawny kid, Bane approached King Shark and begged him to teach him the Tank Life, living life without the constraints of sleeves. King couldn't say no and tossed him a weight. Bane was pinned to the ground. Bane learned to rock the Tank Life faster than anyone before him but it was too fast. Bane never learned self-control and developed a violent hatred toward arm-length garments so deep, he was lost forever. King ordered him to stop. Bane was angered he chose sleeves over his own tankprentice and decked King into a weight rack. Bane left in a blue convertible. They never saw each other again since. The Titans passed King's test and lived the Tank Life. They responded to a crime alert at the Garment District. King saw a box of long sleeve shirts and realized it was a trap but it was too late. Bane made his presence known and attacked with an energy blast emitted from his tank top. King returned fire. Their power was about equal but Bane powered up further and knocked King into some crates.

The Titans were surprised tanks could produce that kind of power. Bane offered them to chance to join him and they would learn there was a lot King Shark didn't tell them about the Tank Life. They ignored King's pleas and bent a knee to Bane. Bane declared the world of sleeves would burn. He powered up and blew up the building. While Bane and the Titans destroyed sleeves at a theater, at Sleeves 4 Less, and Jump City Sleeve Con, King Shark worked on making something. Bane brought the Teen Titans to Fort Sleeves. It was the world's last remaining repository of sleeves. He declared when it was gone, the tank tops alone would rule the world. King Shark arrived in a cloak. The Titans blasted him but he was unharmed and surrounded in a golden aura. He revealed his crop top. Bane was shocked and thought Crop Top Power was just a myth. King ate a bowl of spaghetti then grabbed a meatball with his sixpack and fired it at super speed into Bane's tank top.

Bane remembered a spaghetti stain was the only weakness of the tank top and it detonated. The Titans realized they were fools and apologized to King. A scrawny Bane climbed out of the blast crater, apologized, and also begged to be taken back and taught the Crop Top Life. King agreed to but warned them there was a price to pay for living it, funky tan lines. They were horrified. Bane attempted to escape from prison with Captain Boomerang, Brother Blood, Cinderblock, and Catwoman but Birdarang's loudness tipped off the guards and they were recaptured.
