As a baby, Kal-El was thrust from his doomed homeworld, Krypton, to Earth. There, he was raised by the Kent's in Smallville, Kansas. Brought up with a strong moral sense and code of ethics, Kal-El or Clark Kent decided to become a hero and protect the people as Superman.
With remnant Kryptonian technology, Superman constructed a base of operations, the Fortress of Solitude, in the Arctic Circle. A robot handles the day to day operations of the Fortress while Superman patrols the globe. As Clark Kent, he reports for the Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis.
Superman began a long awaited romance with Lois Lane. For six months, Superman refused to tell Lane his secret identity even though she deduced it after Kent went to Afghanistan as a foreign correspondent. Doomsday was freed from its prison and eventually fought Superman. With his dying breath, Superman managed to deactivate the killer machine.
A funeral rivaling that of President Kennedy was held. Unknown to Superman, his vitals slowed to let him heal. 17 days after his alleged death, his robot aide detected his bio-rhythmic pulse and attempted to track him. Superman was taken from LexCorp to the Fortress, where he was placed in a solar booster, in order to accelerate his absorption rate. At only 67% strength, Superman donned a solar suit and agreed to take an archived Kryptonite cannon to stop his clone once and for all.
