During a time that predates the time period Before Christ, an alien race biologically engineered a doomsday machine. As perfect a weapon it was, the machine couldn't distinguish ally from enemy and sought to destroy anything and everything in its path. Its creators sealed it in a cyrogenic containment unit, unable to kill it. The creators could only leave a warning and jettisoned the unit into outer space. It crash landed on Earth and lay buried two miles below the surface.
Lex Luthor's latest project, Applecore, was designed to invent a new energy source by tapping into the radiation of the Earth's core. During the dig, the unit was discovered and opened. The machine was free and went on a killing spree. Dubbed Doomsday, it fought an epic battle against the super hero, Superman in the city, Metropolis. Superman mustered the last of his strength to leave Earth's orbit with Doomsday and slam it back into Earth upon re-entry. Doomsday was deactivated.
