Jonathan and Martha Kent, residents of Smallville, Kansas, lived on the Kent family farm which remained unchanged since about 1871. On late ride back home, the couple witnessed Kal-El's rocket ship land. Martha found the baby and the Kent's adopted him and named him Clark, after Martha's maiden name. They did their best to raise the boy and instill him with a high sense of morality. When Clark was in his teens and began displaying super powers, the Kent's realized it was time to show him his pod and the truth. Clark eventually accepted it and became the superhero known as Superman. At times, Superman would return home to be himself or seek out the counsel of his parents. Martha Kent became famous for her apple pie recipe.
Years later, it was decided that Kara Zor-El would go to live with the Kent's so she could just be herself. The Kent's were away at the time but their home and property was ravaged in a battle between Superman, Supergirl, and Darkseid. They were speechless despite Superman's promise to rebuild everything and their new niece.
