S.T.A.R. Labs, short for The Scientific and Technological Advanced Research Laboratories, is a private research and development firm originally established near Metropolis. Founded by Garrison Slate, S.T.A.R. Labs became the forefront of scientific research and paved the way for breakthroughs in various fields such as medicine, biology, physics, technology, engineering, and recently, metahumans. Today, S.T.A.R. Labs maintains facilities across the United States and the world.
In search of data on the coming Kryptonite meteor, Batman and Superman broke into the Metropolis branch. However, Superman discovered Metallo's corpse in another room. Batman used a gieger counter to confirm high levels of radiation, different from Superman's heat vision power. They were discovered by security guards and fled instead of neutralizing them.
