Demon Dogs are huge and vicious versions of dogs seen on Earth. In Apokolips, they are raised to serve in the Dog Calvary, an elite unit assigned to patrol the planet for intruders and escaped prisoners. On a mission to save Kara Zor-El, Batman was pursued by two Demon Dogs and was swallowed whole by one. Batman, however, survived by rendering it unconscious with a smoke pellet.
