President Luthor

Back to Villains Main > President Luthor

Real Identity: Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor
Affiliation(s): LexCorp and the United States of America
Powers/Skills: Manipulation, Knowledge of Sciences and Technology, Photographic Memory, and Business
Voiced By: Clancy Brown

At a young age, Lex Luthor's parents were killed and he inherited their company. Growing up, he became interested in mechanics and patented many inventions. By his 20's, he was a corporate billionaire and built his company LexCorp into a financial powerhouse. WIth an array of technology, Luthor boasted having built Metropolis and two-thirds of its population work for him in one manner or another.

Lex Luthor lived his days as the city's most powerful and influential figure. That is, until Superman debuted and slowly won the love and admiration of the people. The two would grow to become bitter rivals over the years, one unable to completely defeat the other. He officially gave up on Superman and apparently put aside his ego to use his intellect and wealth to do good in the world.

Luthor ran for President of the United States on a platform of unity. His three main goals were to bring the nation together, inititate more programs dedicated to the rehabilitation of federal prisoners, and to start federal oversight over metahumans and vigilante activity. He appeared to win the trust of the people and faced off against his Republican opponent, Central City Mayor Thomas Perkins, and Democratic opponent, Mr. Diaz. Max Yezpitlek was chosen to be Luthor's running mate. As the election continued, Luthor won several key states including Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Illionis. The wins in Ohio and California secured his victory. With 37% of the 83% reported votes, Lutor defeated Perkins' 29% and Diaz' 34%. He also received 283 electoral votes, of which 270 was required. Luthor won the recent election with a third party bid and became the 46th President of the United States of America. Luthor made history with his bid and became the only President not affiliated with the Democratic or Republican Parties.

Upon his inauguration, Luthor appeared to be reformed and made great strides in the political climate. Luthor and Yezpitlek replaced outgoing President and Vice President, Knowles and Andrew Chiang, respectively. In an interesting turn of events, as per a secret agreement when he was chosen, Yezpitlek retired to his Montana estate, unless summoned in the future by the President. However, three years later, the arrival of a Kryptonite meteor reignited his hatred of Superman. Luthor fabricated a story that the meteor's proximity was slowly turning Superman insane and a threat to Earth. He used Metallo's apparent death as justification for his lies. The public accepted this and Superman was forced to go underground with a $1 Billion bounty issued for his capture.

Meanwhile, the stress of the job and constant injections of steroids and Kryptonite slowly made Luthor insane. He decided to let the meteor hit and kill millions. Those that survived would be part of a new world order, he would create. He imagined his close advisor, Amanda Waller, as an important lynchpin in that order. However, Batman and Superman arrived in search of data on the meteor. Luthor quickly voice activated a protocol to delete all information. Luckily, Waller kept a copy. Before he could be arrested by military police, he escaped in a battlesuit and was intent on stopping Batman and Superman from destroying the meteor. Batman elected to destory it himself. An enraged Superman chased Luthor from Tokyo to Metropolis and defeated him, perhaps once and for all. Luthor was impeached and taken into custody.
