From the very beginning, Claire Selton's fire powers freaked everyone out, even her mom but her dad was never scared. As she got older, her powers got harder and harder to control. Claire's dad had a hard time keeping her safe. On one occasion, children upset her at a park and she lit it on fire. One day, the government came and took her away to be tested at first. They told Claire's dad they knew best and that they would help. It was a lie. Claire was taken to Project Cadmus, a top secret program dedicated to countering the powers of metahumans.
