Charles is a custodian at Star-Labs in Gotham City. While a school visited on a field trip, Charles was working in hall when Damian Wayne hid his Deputy Bow-Wow in a lunch cart. Peggy, a janitor, came by and wheeled the cart away. Charles greeted her and she reciprocated but she thought he was "Jim." Bruce Wayne later interrogated him about Damian's emergency contact list in his bin. Charles quickly figured out Bruce was Damian's clingy dad. Bruce asked where the cart was taken. Charles pointed him to a greenhouse lab. On April Fool's Day, a fight broke out in Charles' house.
