Damian Wayne owned a Deputy Bow-Wow talking doll when he was younger. After he aged out of it, Bow-Wow was stored in the attic of Wayne Manor. On the eve of a field trip to Star-Labs, Bruce retrieved the doll but its recorded lines woke up Claire Selton and Alicia Pennyworth. Bruce attempted to explain his motives despite their skepticism and realized they went back to their bedrooms before he was done. The next day, Damian was embarrassed to see Bow-Wow in his backpack. Bruce believed talking him along would be bringing a piece of him, too, since he missed the window to volunteer to chaperone. Damian agreed to take it with him and Bruce engineered the chance to fill-in as a chaperone. To distract Bruce, Damian hid Bow-Wow in a locker and pretended he lost it. Bruce fell for it. Damian and Dent Twins sneaked into the Crime Wing to look at various items used by supervillains and superheroes.
However, they accidentally triggered a Mother Box and brought Parademons to Star-Labs. The Terratron Accelerator was the only thing powerful enough to turn off the Mother Box but it was damaged by the flame breath of a Parademon. Little Batman patched a scorched wire with Deputy Bow-Wow and Batman turned on the accelerator with his Lucky Batarang. Despite being fried, Bow-Wow survived and was given back to Damian.
