A father and son prankster duo loved celebrating April Fools Day and spreading the holiday spirit all through the town. But on one April Fool's Eve, the father pulled off the greatest prank alone while his son was tricked into waiting at home on the eve and day of April Fools. The son never let it go and remained angry about it his whole life. He later became the Joker.

No joke about it, age has taken the spring out of this sadistic prankster's perpetual smile. Sure, at 68 his creative criminal genius has matured like a finale bottle of Port. And yes, he's still just as doused with a warped sense of humor as the chemicals that once disfigured his face. He has a diabolical scheme for his scratch, grating voice and the shrills of his laughter echo terror through the streets of Gotham once again with renewed vigor.

Joker's Christmas scheme was thwarted by Batman and Little Batman. During New Year's, Little Batman went to a high security prison complex next to Arkham Daycare. He made his way to the High Security Wing and entered the room of Inmate 0564, the Joker. Joker noted how quickly they built the prison to put him somewhere. Little Batman had enough small talk and showed him the canister of Fear Toxin. Joker lied he never heard of it. Little Batman cut to the chase and asked him what he wanted. Joker demanded a TV in his room so he could watch all his favorite programs, a Taco Tuesday-type situation at the institute, Riddler had to share some of his puzzles, and the guard's ring of keys. Little Batman refused. Joker admitted he drove a hard bargain but was fine with talking first then negotiating later. He told Little Batman the short version of Scarecrow's origins and how he couldn't scare anyone at first so he developed his Fear Toxin but Batman defeated him, cut off his ingredient supply, and wrangled up all the remaining Fear Toxin.

Joker recalled all the toxin was locked up on a floating barge protected by the Gotham City Police Department. He admitted he tried to steal it a bunch of times but failed. Little Batman wondered how Scarecrow was getting his toxin if it was being guarded. Joker was amused by his naivete and implied the police were in on it. Little Batman asked if that were true, why he was still at Arkham. Joker teased he wouldn't be staying there for long. He laughed as Little Batman left.

Joker found the AntiGlow, the last invention of Dr. Light and capable of absorbing light on a planetary scale. He discovered it could be used as hypnotic light through photo-impositional suggestion, a type of mind-control that uses lightwaves to manipulate the mind, but only if the victim is angry enough. E*Vil gathered in their brownstone to watch the season finale of "Battle Ship Bake Off!" but Joker spoiled the results, revealing Samantha won, and blasted the AntiGlow at them then they were all overcome with rage and trashed the brownstone. As he planned, E*Vil served as a distraction for Batman and his family. Using the AntiGlow, Batman was led on a wild goose chase all over the city and eventually to a fake AntiGlow planted on the Statue of Justice. As he planned, Batman took it back with him to the Batcave.

On his own in the city, on April Fool's eve, Little Batman kicked and punched a few things then was tapped from behind by the Joker. He knocked Little Batman into his hideout and told him a story about his life when he was a child. He and his Papa J loved celebrating April Fools Day and spreading the holiday spirit all through the town. But on one April Fool's Eve, Papa J pulled off the greatest prank alone while his son was tricked into waiting at home. Joker admitted after all these years, he was still so very angry about it but felt good sharing it. Little Batman wanted to know what he was up to. Joker replied about 6'4" barefoot. He claimed to be a changed man who saw an old friend in need and wanted to cheer him up. Little Batman told him they weren't friends. Joker wanted to talk about his anger. He bet they had something in common, their dads. Little Batman didn't think they were the same. Joker recalled he got a partnership last Christmas but found him alone on the street now. Joker played footage of Batman and Bright working together. Little Batman told him that was enough.

Joker thought it was okay to be mad but he just needed to learn how to express his emotions. He implored him to let it out. Little Batman shouted he was mad at his dad then socked Joker. Joker used the AntiGlow on him. Batman was about to leave to look for Damian but the diagnostic completed and confirmed the AntiGlow they had was a fake. Batman shielded Alicia and Claire as it blew up. Joker broadcast himself and declared it would be the last April Fools' they would ever have. He revealed he would be serving Gotham a 24-hour Prank-A-Thon. Joker presented his co-host and son, Joker Jr. Batman, Claire, Selina, and Alicia were horrified to see Damian now dressed up as Joker. Joker and Joker Jr. played "Spin that Citizen" with smiling piranhas instead of swords. The citizen was mad because he was led to believe he was going to be on a dating show. Joker used the AntiGlow on him. If he could make people angry enough and Joker could use it from a high enough altitude, he can mind control the whole city. Joker and Joker Jr. headed out into the city in a rowboat called S.S. Yuks.

They poured cement into a public swimming pool, trapping several senior citizens. Alicia got an axe and freed them. From a helicopter, they dropped a giant model butt onto a giant whoopee cushion on a truck bed and knocked people into trees or onto light poles. Claire was unable to get Damian's attention. A movie theater room was inundated with cheese after all patrons were trapped in their seats. Man-Bat and Ra's al Ghul charged Joker and Joker Jr. but they were just an illusion and cardboard standee. Paul Chen broke open a pinata but there were bees in it. He and Lucky ran into a bouncy house. The bees popped it and the bouncy house took off. Batman went to save them rather than pursue Joker's hot air balloon. Gotham City was on fire in no time. Joker and Joker Jr. also defaced the Statue of Justice with graffiti. Jr. thought it was taking too long and asked when they were getting to the grand finale. Joker told him soon and what they did so far was only an appetizer. He revealed when the whole city was mad enough, they will put everyone under their mind control by launching the AntiGlow into space with a giant Joker rocket. He placed the Anti-Glow between the teeth of the rocket's Joker face.

Jr. was excited about seeing the remote and asked if he could push the button when it was time. Joker told him to be patient. Batman breached the TV studio. At the main stage, a TV turned on to Vicki Vale reported people becoming enraged all across town amid Joker's return. She admitted all they could do was wait with dreaded anticipation for Joker's grand finale. Joker called her a sensationalist and asked if that's what passed for news. Batman asked where Damian was. Joker was bummed he was straight to business, clapped the lights back on, and suggested he ask him how he's been. He teased owning a TV studio was always a personal dream of his. Batman told him to can it. He declared his son was his now. He asked what cave he was living in and hoped he wasn't one of those "I don't own a TV" bats. Batman grabbed him by the collar. Joker teased he was out of breath and must have been skipping cardio day. Batman threw him into the audience. Joker promised to tell him and had him come closer, right under a hanging bat cage. He stepped aside but leg clamps came out of the floor and immobilized him.

Joker reveled how he was way ahead of Batman the whole time but knew the plan had to be foolproof so he spent a long time on it. Batman freed himself with Batarangs. He ran towards Batman but Jr. dropped the cage on him. Batman used the Bat-Lightwave Blocker but Jr. had on prop eyelids. He smashed the blocker and ran to Joker's arms. Batman wanted to know what Joker wanted. Joker revealed he only wanted what Batman had, a family of his own. A perimeter alarm was breached and the Bat-Fam arrived. Volcana was doused by a giant fire extinguisher. Man-BatMan went on the fritz after Joker blew a whistle and he flew right into a cage. Alfred, in the Exo-Bat, threw a punch at Joker but froze. Jr. was controlling the suit with a controller and made him dance then tossed Joker a mirror he used to deflect Bright's attack back at her. Ra's al Ghul declared if anyone was turning his grandson evil it was him. Joker found him boring. Jr. sucked him into a vacuum chamber. Ra's admitted that was impressive. Joker credited Jr. with knowing everyone's weaknesses.

Joker promised to not only bring crime back but also turn every single one of Gotham's citizens into criminals. Joker resumed his broadcast and announced there was no last prank, just a beatdown from his goons. Batman got free and untied Bright and Volcana but Joker triggered the trap door under them. They landed in a giant prank gauntlet surrounded by an acid moat. Joker then declared it was time for the elimination round with all of Gotham's favorite villains: Solomon Grundy, Livewire, Mad Hatter, and Killer Croc. He implored the citizens to feel their helplessness and give into rage. Jr. told Joker it was the best April Fool's Day ever and they high fived. Both had joy buzzers. Jr. liked all the buttons on the remote and asked if "GF" stood for "grand finale." He demonstrated it was for "giant fart" then pointed out the skull and crossbones was for the grand finale. He tried to push it but Joker stopped him and reminded him they had to make sure Gotham was primed and ready first. Joker surveyed the city and declared it was showtime.

Joker launched the Joker rocket with the AntiGlow. Ra's rolled into the acid. Joker wondered if the rocket made his chin look big. Batman made his way to Joker and demanded the remote. Joker warned him not to take another step or he would activate the AntiGlow. Batman asked Jr. for help and apologized for not trusting him. Jr. opened his jacket and hit in the gut with a boxing glove. Batman told Jr. to think of Gotham. Joker teased him with touching the button. Joker mocked Batman. Batman asked Jr. not to make Gotham pay for his mistake. Jr. asked him if he did make a mistake. Batman admitted to it. The rest of the Bat-Fam arrived. Jr. pointed out he didn't think he could handle the AntiGlow mission and he should have trusted that he could. Batman agreed. Jr. asked if he would trust him to handle it if he could go back in time. Batman stated he would. Jr. asked for the remote. Jr. proclaimed April Fools to his dad. Joker blew a raspberry at Batman. Jr. clarified he was talking to Joker. He pushed the button that caused the rocket to self-destruct.

Batman fired a grapnel line and set Little Batman up with it. Little Batman threw out a Batarang that destroyed the AntiGlow. Joker couldn't believe he got tricked. Batman apologized again and hugged Little Batman. The Bat-Fam joined in. Bright realized Little Batman was never hypnotized. Little Batman confirmed he play along to get Joker to trust him and admitted he was only disappointed but not actually mad, so the brainwashing didn't work. Batman secured Joker. Little Batman stated nothing in the world could stop him from loving his dad or anyone else in his family. Batman admitted he was fooled up until the final moment. Betrayed by his own son, Joker thought it was truly the best April Fool's Day ever. Batman told him to save it for the judge. Commissioner Gordon believed they could finally enjoy a crime-free Gotham. Batman disagreed and conceded crime would always have its place in Gotham.

Little Batman added the Bat-Family would always be there, too, and apologized about the pranks he pulled with the Joker to keep his cover. Batman stated they were prepared to make restitution for any and all damages. Little Batman agreed. The next day, they cleaned up the Statue of Justice. Little Batman wished he knew what restitution meant before he promised to make it. Joker, in prison orange and chains, told him what's important is that they were spending time together as family. Batman bluntly told him he wasn't family.
