Smallville is small farming town in the state of Kansas. "A Nice Place To Call Home," Smallville is known for its idealistic characterization of the American Way, Kansas is also notorious for being the "middle of nowhere." It is home to generations of the Kent family and later, Clark Kent. When the pressures of being Superman were too great, Kent returned to Smallville to gather himself and seek advice from his mother.

Clark Kent worked for the local paper, the Smallville Chronicle, and kept track of headlines that involved his anonymous exploits. At the Smallville Fair, a teenage Kent was visited by Bouncing Boy, Brainiac 5, and Saturn Girl of the Legion of Superheroes. They convinced him to return with them to the 31st century to fight the Fatal Five. Saturn Girl used her telepathy to erase any memory of their appearance from the townfolk.
