The Takion Cannon is a doomsday weapon created by the Dominators. They lacked a sufficient power source of the Cannon until a space storm caught their attention. That field of pure energy turned out to be Ayla Ranzz. The Legion of Superheroes attacked the Cannon two weeks later and forced the Dominators and Imperiex' forces to abandon it.
