When Brainiac was briefly trapped in a prison, it uploaded itself into the computer network and began to construct a new body for itself. It then created a space ship for interplanetary travel. Named the Skull Ship, Brainiac directly interfaced with the ship and essentially acts and extension of its will. The ship was later destroyed.
In the 30th century, Brainiac recreated the Skull Ship with Imperiex' flagship cruiser and proceeded to Colu. Along the way, it digitized Thanagar in one blast. In the battle against the Legion of Superheroes, it was destroyed again.
