Lex Luthor modified monkeys with robotic brains to help with his desire to smear Superman's name. He later built a robot dog to destroy the Supers but was distracted with a fire caused by his Monkey Bots in another room. Luthor grabbed a fire extinguisher. After the fire out was out, he saw A.R.F. was playing with Krypto. He floated down using the rocket propulsion feature in his dress shoes with one of the Monkey Bots then popped Krypto's ball.
