Bruce Wayne is the son of Thomas and Martha Wayne. When Bruce was at a young age, all three went to a movie theater in Park Row to watch "The Mark of Zorro." While on the walk home, they were accosted by Joe Chill. Chill shot and killed both adults and ran off. Wayne was raised at Wayne Manor by the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth. He didn't forget his parents' deaths and vowed to help rid Gotham City of all evil once and for all. When he was old enough, Wayne embarked on a journey across the world to study various ways of fighting crime, including chemistry, criminology, disguise, escape artistry, forensic studies, gymnastics, and styles of martial arts. Once Wayne reached his physical and mental peak, he returned to Gotham and devised the mantle of Batman.
As Bruce Wayne, he took up his birthright, CEO of Wayne Enterprises and became a noted philanthropist. Batman's mask is a ballistic nylon cowl equipped with infrared vision, night vision, zoom magnification, sonar enhanced hearing, and WiFi transmission. He wears Kevlar reinforced body armor, a fireproof cape, Utility Belt, gauntlets with projectile spikes and a lead lined electric charged knuckles. The principal design of the costume was done by Wayne's second, Lucius Fox. Eventually, Batman took on a partner named Robin and helped found the Justice League.
Realizing the Justice League could fall prey to mind control or simply go rogue, Batman carefully studied every Justice Leaguer past and present. He created contingency plans to neutralize them but not kill. They were soecifically targeted at their physical and psychological weaknesses. The plans were eventually stolen by Vandal Savage and Mirror Master. They were altered to kill. Batman avoided his death and Cyborg helped save Wonder Woman. Then the other Leaguers were saved as well. Once the League regrouped amid Batman's "betrayal," they followed the signal of Batman's decrypted files to the Hall of Doom in Louisiana. Batman defeated Bane once again and helped save the world from Vandal Savage's real plan. In the aftermath, everyone voted to induct Cyborg as a member of the League but Batman's continued membership was put up to a vote. Not satisfied with the lack of agreement over having a failsafe, Batman walked out on the Leaguers. As he prepared to leave, Superman asked him what the failsafe against him would be. When Batman answered it was the Justice League, Superman handed a Kryptonite Bullet to him. Batman teleported off the Watchtower.
