In a Kansas town, a bartender kept his madame's questionable practices secret as it didn't negatively affect business. When Jonah Hex arrived and questioned the bartender, he denied seeing Red Doc. However, he was noticeably nervous. Hex was tipped off by a bar girl then bought rounds for all the patrons and employees. They would be occupied while he confronted Madame Lorraine. After the fight spilled outdoors, the bartender pulled a rifle on Hex but was shot dead. The bystanders proceeded to pillage the bar.
