Before he went on sabbatical off-planet, Superman left a communicator wristwatch with Lois Lane. By pressing its buttons, the watch would send Superman a signal that he could respond to in seconds. Lane used it after Lena Luthor shrank Metropolis but its signal was blocked. Bruce Wayne also had the function on his watch and it did not work as well. Lane got an idea to send a message to Superman via Morse Code.
