Qward is the primary planet in a parallel universe often referred to as Earth-3. It also happens to exist in orbit in the center of the universe. A race of warriors called the Thunderers and blacksmiths called the Weaponers live on this planet.
As punishment for his crimes, Sinestro was exiled to Qward. He quickly impressed the Qwardians with his military knowledge and forced a group of Weaponers to forge him a Power Ring that draws on the only energy that can rival a Green Lantern, Yellow Energy.
In his latest scheme, Sinestro opened a vortex to Qward and used antimatter to try to destroy the universe. However, the Green Lantern Corps stopped him before any damage could be done. Sinestro was ejected into the vortex.
