Kilowog chose to leave the telepathic unity of his homeworld, Bolovax Vik to become the Green Lantern of Space Sector 0674 and later trained a new recruit named Hal Jordan. Kilowog and Jordan became quick friends. He is also a skilled mechanic and scientist.
After Sinestro's Attack Droids invaded Oa, Kilowog issued a universal-wide recall of all available Green Lanterns. It was little enough to halt the Droid's agenda. As witness to the downfall of the universe, Sinestro spared Kilowog and a few other Lanterns. Although unimpressed with Duck Dodgers, Kilowog was won over when Dodgers used the old energy foot in the door trick.
