Rojira was the home of two races. One, the Ruulans, was a race warlike creatures that resembled Earth's starfish. The other race, the Jirenn, was a peaceful humanoid race. The two races were separated by a barrier of volcanic activity.
The red colored Rulanns fought amongst themselves, except during their dormant period. The creatures would suddenly freeze, turn yellow, and recharge their energies. The Ruulans could quickly regenerate lost limbs, or a new body if necessary.
One day, a Ruulan named Korad had found a path through the volcano field. He encountered the Jirenn and killed one. Korad telepathically summoned the other Ruulans. Rori Dag, one of the Jirenn, stepped out to lead his people. As the battle wore on, it appeared the Ruulans would win. Just when they were about to kill Rori Dag, they went into hibernation. He was recruited by the Guardians of the Universe to be a Green Lantern of Space Sector 1234. Dag won the war without killing the Ruulans.
Dag later passed on his ring to Rori Stroh, a member of one of the most advanced civilizations in the known universe. His pronounced forehead is believed to be an evolution and lends to the intelligence he possesses.
