The Energi-Rod is Kanjar Ro's primary weapon. Powered by an unstable core, it is a fromidable weapon but as a failsafe, the Rod can only be operated through Ro's thoughts. As a result, certain thoughts are thought to be imprinted psionically. Rather than risk being discovered, Sinestro killed Ro and stole the Rod. Some time later, he reconnected some synapses in Ro's mind and forced him to use the Rod to show him the location of the Yellow Element. Afterwards, Boodikka was dispatched to kill Kilowog and Hal Jordan. Ringless, Jordan tricked Boodikka into shooting the Rod. The massive explosion produced, propelled Boodikka into medical instruments and killed her.
