Jeryll is from Glirell, a world that has lived in unbridled peace since before recorded time. As a result, the law is based on pacifism. She was later chosen as Green Lantern of Space Sector 55. While on a case in Glirell, Jeryll defended herself from an insane man. The High Council threatened her with banishment if she took action again. Soon enough, the planet was under attack by Drelite slavers. To display their intent, they destroyed a school, filled with children. Unable to see her people abandon their ideology, Jeryll fought off the slavers by herself and stuck to her punishment. The High Council was ashamed of their prior ruling and sought forgiveness from her. Jeryll accepted but was ashamed herself that she felt elation during the battle despite her pacifist upbringing.
