Alfred Pennyworth is the loyal butler to the Wayne Family in Gotham City. After Dr. and Mrs. Wayne were murdered, Pennyworth raised their son Bruce Wayne alone. After Wayne left college and later went abroad, Pennyworth continued to manage the day to day affairs of Wayne Manor and supported Wayne's desire for justice.
When Batman surfaced, Pennyworth's wit served as a foil to Batman's obsession and he continued to dispense sound advice, administered first aid and even gave tactical assistance from the Batcave. On several occassions, Pennyworth even drove the Batmobile to retrieve a wounded Batman.
