Cassandra resides in a village in India. She sought to learn the pain control techniques of Bhusara but her status as a female prohibited her. She gained the knowledge by disguising herself as a boy. The Fakirs eventually figured out her rouse and kept her as a student, believing she'd fail soon enough. Cassandra didn't and was marked as a witch and outcast. Cassandra's own family disowned her. She wouldn't leave the area. Perhaps through Bhusara she found her own enlightenment or truth and felt her place was there and she could never leave. Cassandra was often harassed by local youths. She would silently take their heckling until they got restless and left.
Years later, Cassandra met Bruce Wayne who wanted to learn Bhusara. Intrigued that the Fakir reversed their decision to train Wayne, she took him on. She attempted to teach him to control his interior pain but at the time, it was something Wayne denied. After Wayne defended Cassandra from a mob, she decided it was time for him to leave as she helped him as much as he would allow her.
